LOT Polish Airlines has launched three new direct routes from northern Poland, linking Gdansk with Brussels, Oslo and Bergen, in a move aimed at strengthening regional connectivity and expanding its European network.

The new services, which are now available for booking, significantly enhance travel options for passengers in the Pomerania region, offering both business and leisure connections to key European destinations.

Frequent connections to major hubs

Flights to Brussels will operate four times per week—on Mondays, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays—with a flight time of just under two hours. Oslo will see up to five weekly rotations, while Bergen will be served up to three times per week.

The schedules are designed to support both short city trips and business travel, with morning and evening departures enabling same-day or short-stay itineraries.

Strategic push for regional airports

The expansion underscores LOT’s strategy of strengthening operations beyond its main Warsaw hub by developing regional airports such as Gdansk. By introducing direct routes, the airline aims to reduce travel times and improve accessibility for northern Poland.

Airline executives say the new connections will facilitate access to major administrative and economic centres—particularly Brussels, home to key European institutions—while also opening up popular Scandinavian destinations known for their strong tourism appeal and business links.

Economic and tourism impact

Local airport authorities at Gdansk Lech Wa??sa Airport have welcomed the move, highlighting its potential to boost regional competitiveness, attract investment and stimulate international cooperation.

The addition of Oslo and Bergen also taps into strong demand for travel between Poland and Norway, driven in part by business ties and diaspora links, while Brussels has long been a sought-after destination for both institutional and corporate travel.

Reinforcing Gdansk’s role as a gateway

Historically a major trading port linking Central Europe with international markets, Gdansk is once again positioning itself as a gateway—this time through air connectivity. The new routes reflect a broader trend of decentralising air travel and empowering regional cities with direct international access.

With the launch of these services, LOT continues to expand its footprint across Europe while reinforcing the role of regional airports in shaping the continent’s aviation network.
