A LOT Polish Airlines Embraer E170STD, registered as SP-LDK, operated flight LO771 between Warsaw, Poland and Vilnius, Lithuania on 26 November. During the final phase of the landing roll at Vilnius Airport, however, the aircraft skidded from the paved surface of the taxiway.
Emergency services immediately responded to the scene. 63 passengers and 4 crew members safely left the aircraft via mobile stairs and were brought to the terminal. The airline has cancelled the return flight, and the airline’s technical services are assessing the situation, together with Lithuanian authorities.
The airport remains shut down for operations, at least until 17:00 local time.
Images that appeared on social media indicate a snowy, slippery runway/taxiway.
