German carrier LEAV Aviation will launch a new nonstop service between Cologne Bonn Airport and Aleppo on 17 August, establishing the first direct air connection between the two cities.
The route will operate twice weekly, on Mondays and Saturdays, using an Airbus A320-200, with a flight time of approximately four hours. Return services from Aleppo will operate on the same days.
Cologne Bonn Airport said the new connection is particularly aimed at the large Syrian community in Germany, providing easier access for passengers visiting friends and relatives while also supporting economic and personal links between North Rhine-Westphalia and Syria.
LEAV Aviation CEO Daniel Broda said the flights would re-establish connections that many passengers had been awaiting for a long time, reducing journey times and eliminating the need for an intermediate stop.
Aleppo is one of Syria’s largest cities and an important economic centre. The new service represents another step in the gradual restoration of international air links to Syria following years of severely restricted connectivity.
Cologne-based LEAV Aviation operates a fleet of Airbus A320-200 aircraft and provides scheduled, charter and ACMI services.
