On 19 August, an LC Perú Bombardier Dash-8 Q400 (reg. N404AV) operating flight W4 1323 towards Ayacucho (AYP) made an emergency landing back at Lima Airport (LIM) after the nose gear failed to deploy approaching to Ayacucho Airport. The pilots decided to head back to Lima Airport as they deemed it unsafe to land at the much smaller Ayacucho Airport.

Five crew and 59 passengers were on the flight, including 9 infants. All of them are safe. At the moment of writing the airport is closed for arriving and departing traffic; aircraft are diverting to nearby airports.

LC Perú is a Peruvian airline based in Lima, Peru. It operates scheduled domestic flights. Its main base is Lima Jorge Chávez International Airport.

It’s not the first time that a Bombardier Dash-8 has landing gear issues (read below).
