LATAM Airlines will launch non-stop passenger flights between Brussels Airport and São Paulo starting June 2026, marking the first direct connection between Belgium and Latin America in more than 25 years. The carrier plans to operate three weekly flights, re-establishing a route last served in 2000 and significantly expanding Brussels Airport’s intercontinental offering.
The new service connects Brussels with São Paulo, Latin America’s largest city and one of the region’s most important aviation hubs. Airport officials say the route will benefit business travellers, tourists and Belgium’s sizable Brazilian community, offering a long-awaited direct link for Visiting Friends & Relatives (VFR) travel.
Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport, hailed LATAM’s arrival as a major milestone. “This is the first direct passenger link with Latin America in more than 25 years. The route strengthens our intercontinental network and gives passengers direct access to one of the region’s key hubs,” he said, adding that Brussels’ central European location positions it as an “ideal gateway” for Brazilian travellers.
The move builds on LATAM’s expanding presence in Belgium. Since September 2024, the airline has increased the frequency of its cargo operations at Brussels Airport, transforming the hub into its most significant freight gateway in Europe.
Great ! If I am not mistaken, last service from Brussels to South America was operated by now defunct VASP.
Yes. If memory serves me well, they flew the MD-11 between GRU and BRU, 2 or 3 times a week. They discontinued the route in 2000.
