Customers gain access to 11 new destinations via Doha as airlines deepen partnership

Kenya Airways and Qatar Airways have launched a new codeshare partnership that will significantly expand travel options between Africa, the Middle East, Asia, and beyond.

The agreement, a major milestone following their strategic partnership signed in July, coincides with the introduction of Qatar Airways’ third daily flight between Doha and Nairobi, further enhancing connectivity between Kenya and the Gulf region.

Under the new arrangement, Qatar Airways passengers can connect via Nairobi to eight African destinations, including Juba (South Sudan), Lilongwe (Malawi), Livingstone (Zambia), and Victoria Falls (Zimbabwe). In turn, Kenya Airways customers can now book flights to 11 global destinations through Doha, such as Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Male, and Tokyo.

Kenya Airways Chief Commercial and Customer Officer Julius Thairu said the partnership strengthens the airline’s mission to improve connectivity and enhance customer experience.

“This partnership will expand our network and open up a world of new destinations for our customers. Together with Qatar Airways, we are committed to offering better travel experiences and creating more opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.”

Qatar Airways Chief Commercial Officer Thierry Antinori added that the collaboration reinforces Qatar Airways’ commitment to the African market.

“By combining our extensive networks, we are creating new opportunities for travellers and strengthening economic ties between our regions.”

Beyond passenger services, both airlines plan to explore further cooperation in cargo operations, ground handling, lounge access, maintenance, sustainability, and loyalty programmes.

The codeshare opens for sale on 15 October 2025, with travel beginning from 26 October 2025.

The announcement follows a strong year for both airlines: Kenya Airways was named Africa’s Leading Airline at the 2025 World Travel Awards, while Qatar Airways was voted World’s Best Airline by Skytrax for a record ninth time.
