Volotea and ITA Airways have deepened their partnership with the launch of a bilateral codeshare agreement, significantly expanding travel options across Europe.
Building on an interline deal introduced in late 2025, the new agreement allows passengers to access up to 104 route combinations through a single booking, improving connectivity between Italy and a wide range of European destinations.
The partnership is centred around Rome Fiumicino Airport, where the two airlines’ networks will be more closely integrated. Travellers will benefit from easier connections to key Italian cities such as Milan, Catania, and Palermo, as well as major European hubs including Frankfurt, Paris, London, and Amsterdam.
At the same time, the agreement opens up additional routes via Spain, particularly through Barcelona and Madrid, connecting passengers to smaller regional destinations served by Volotea, such as Asturias and Bilbao. This enhances access to secondary cities—one of Volotea’s core strengths—while extending ITA Airways’ reach beyond its traditional network.
Airline executives say the deal represents a natural next step in their collaboration, aimed at offering more flexible itineraries and improving overall passenger convenience. It also strengthens both carriers’ positions in a competitive European market, where partnerships are increasingly key to expanding network reach without adding capacity.
The move underscores a broader trend toward closer cooperation between airlines, as they seek to optimise connectivity and respond to evolving travel demand across the continent.
