On 19 March, an Iran Air Fokker 100 (EP-IDG) was operating domestic flight IR215 between Qeshm and Tehran-Mehrabad (Iran). On the first approach, the pilots were unable to lower the main landing gear – most likely after an hydraulic failure issue, after some holding patterns the pilots then decided to perform a main gear-up landing. After landing, sparks and smoke was seen from the undercarriage.
The 28-year-old aircraft carried 100 passengers, no injuries have been reported. Under decades of international sanctions, Iran’s commercial passenger aircraft fleet has aged, with air accidents occurring regularly in recent years.
