InterSky spreads its wings and flies with new world records
InterSky set two new records on a charter flight operated on behalf of the Albanian football club Skënderbeu Korça
The team at the Albanian football club Skënderbeu Korça counted on the reliability of the regional airline InterSky to get back from the Belfast leg of its Champions League qualification match, flying from Belfast to Tirana on board the airline’s comfortable new ATR72-600. Clocking up flying time of 5 hours and 25 minutes, and travelling a distance of 2682 kilometres during the charter flight on 22/23 July 2015, InterSky broke its own previous record for an ATR72-600 by two minutes, or 189 kilometres. Back in November 2013, the regional airline had flown FC St. Gallen from Friedrichshafen in Germany to the Russian city of Krasnodar for its UEFA Europa league match.
Across ten countries
Although Skënderbeu Korça was unlucky to lose its match 3:2 against Crusaders Belfast following two goals in overtime, there was nothing to stop the team’s world record flight on the way back home. The flight path took the aircraft from Belfast over London, Brussels, Frankfurt, Munich, Zagreb and Sarajevo, before finally touching down in Tirana after passing over no fewer than ten countries: Ireland, Great Britain, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia Herzegovina, Montenegro and Albania. InterSky captain Michael Hüsser and his crew of three accompanied the team from Skënderbeu Korça.
The longest commercial flight
“This is the longest commercial flight ever undertaken by this aircraft model“, says InterSky Chief Executive Officer Roger Hohl, visibly thrilled at the two new world records. Besides operating as a traditional airline, InterSky has now made quite a name for itself as a provider of specially tailored, individual services for international football clubs. Indeed, a variety of top-level European clubs and national teams place their trust in the regional airline InterSky.
