LEVEL

LEVEL enters a new phase: begins operating under its own IATA code “LL”

Share

LEVEL has officially started operating as a fully independent airline within the IAG Group, marking a major milestone with the launch of flights under its new IATA code LL. The first flight using the new identifier—LL2627 from Barcelona to New York JFK—departed on 1 December 2025, symbolising the airline’s transition from an Iberia-operated brand to a standalone carrier.

The airline has a 16% market share in Barcelona long-haul routes, consolidating its position as the city’s leading long-haul airline

From Brand to Autonomous Airline

LEVEL’s independence follows a year-long transformation:

  • AOC obtained: December 2024
  • Operational permits secured in 2025 for the US, Argentina, and Chile
  • IOSA certification: June 2025, confirming compliance with global safety and operational standards

The new LL code will now appear on tickets, boarding passes, and flight information, marking LEVEL’s presence as a separate carrier within IAG.

CEO Statement

CEO Rafael Jiménez Hoyos describes the moment as “historic,” highlighting the team’s dedication and the airline’s evolution into an “independent, efficient, and innovative” long-haul operator focused on growing Barcelona’s global connectivity.

Rapid Workforce Expansion

To support its autonomy, LEVEL has increased its staff by 750%, building its own cabin and cockpit crews and expanding key operational departments. This growth underpins its strategic plan to continue expanding its long-haul network from Barcelona.

A Catalan Tribute: Callsign “Dalí”

LEVEL will use “Dalí” as its new radio callsign—a tribute to Catalan cultural heritage and a symbolic link to its Barcelona roots.
