Iberia will increase its capacity in Brazil by 25% in the first half of 2026, adding 72,000 seats compared with the same period in 2025. The announcement was made by CEO Marco Sansavini at the opening of Espacio Iberia in São Paulo.
The growth is driven mainly by the launch of two new year-round routes — Recife (from 13 December 2025) and Fortaleza (from 19 January 2026) — each operating three weekly flights. These additions double Iberia’s Brazilian network to four direct destinations: São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Recife and Fortaleza.
São Paulo will maintain two daily flights, while Rio de Janeiro will grow 9% to over 70,000 seats, supported by the addition of a new Airbus A350 next summer. Overall, Iberia expects to offer 365,000 seats in Brazil in the first six months of 2026 and to close 2025 with over 590,000 seats, up 27% year-on-year.
The expansion confirms Brazil as Iberia’s fastest-growing long-haul market, reinforcing connectivity between Madrid and Brazil. Iberia’s partnerships with LATAM and GOL also extend access to 50 domestic destinations across the country.
Meanwhile, Espacio Iberia — now open in São Paulo’s Rua Óscar Freire 777 until November 30 — offers visitors an immersive experience with a flight simulator, Spanish cuisine tastings, and other activities showcasing Iberia’s service and culture.
