In its airline punctuality report for 2107, FlightGlobal Incorporating FlightStats, the leading travel industry consulting, information, services, and software company, has ranked both Iberia and its low-cost unit Iberia Express at the top in their categories.

In 2017, Iberia was the world’s most punctual international network airline, with 88.97% of its flights arriving on time.

Iberia was also tops amongst major European airlines, with 89.54% of its European flights on time.

The Spanish airline won in both categories for the second consecutive year.

Luis Gallego, Iberia’s Chairman and CEO, said “we are very proud to win this recognition for the second year running. Lots of international airlines do things very well and improve each year, in hopes of becoming the most punctual, so it is an enormous satisfaction for us to achieve this for two following years, maintaining the standards of quality that our customers demand. And punctuality is one of the benchmarks that passengers value the most in choosing an airline. This recognition is proof of the hard work, commitment, and skills of our staff. My congratulations to all of them”

The low-cost carrier Iberia Express also led the punctuality rankings in its category last year, for the fourth time, with 91.77% of its flights arriving on time.

Iberia Express Chairman and CEO, Fernando Candela, commented, “It’s very gratifying to receive this award for the fourth year in a row. It is a recognition of the dedication, commitment and daily work of the whole company, as it strives to achieve the highest standards of quality and service for our customers every day. It is also the finishing touch to an exceptional 2017, a year when we have celebrated our 5th anniversary and have reached such important landmarks for an airline that is only 5 years old. This award renews our commitment to operational excellence, as well as to our customers and employees, and shows that, with our effort, our commitment, responsibility and eagerness, we can reach our goals and consolidate Iberia Express model internationally”.
