At the annual gala dinner of the Spain-US Chamber of Commerce in Miami, Florida, Iberia received an award as this year’s “Spain-US Company 2015”.
Members of the Chamber chose Iberia because of its contribution to “business development between the two countries” and for its “spectacular transformation, which has not only restored the company to profitability, but also improved customer service and efficiency”.
Amongst the some 350 guests at the dinner were Miami’s Mayor, Tomás Regalado, the Spanish Consul Cándido Creis, and business leaders, members of the Chamber, as well as the media.
Juan Cierco, Iberia’s Director of Communications, Corporate Affairs and CSR, received the award on behalf of Iberia and thanked the Chamber for “recognising all our efforts to transform our airline”. He said that “Iberia has changed a lot in the past two years. We have adopted a new brand image and redesigned our seating classes on long-haul flights, and while much remains to be done, we now stand on a solid foundation from which to meet future challenges.”
Other winners of awards from the Chamber this year were the law firm Greenberg Traurig, and the Paralympic athlete Gemma Hassen-Bey, who is now preparing to climb Mt Kilimanjaro, with the support of Iberia.
The Spain-US Camber of Commerce promotes Spanish investment in the United States as well as trade between the two countries. For the past 35 years, it has given recognition to the companies most outstanding in these areas, including Altadis USA, Mapfre, Iberdrola, Indra, and NH Hotels.
Iberia began flying from Madrid to Miami in 1972, and today it is one of the airline’s most important long-haul routes, with two return flights per day using Airbus A330-300s. The flights offer good connections in Madrid to/from more than 90 cities in Spain, the rest of Europe, Africa, and the Middle East.
