Iberia is celebrating one year since it became the worldwide launch airline for the Airbus A321XLR, consolidating its leadership in long-haul travel by pioneering transoceanic flights with a single-aisle aircraft.
The A321XLR made its inaugural long-haul flight to Boston on November 14 a year ago, ushering in a new era of transatlantic connectivity marked by efficiency and flexibility.
Key Benefits and Fleet Expansion
Efficiency: The A321XLR is highly efficient, delivering up to 40% fuel savings compared to wide-body models, allowing for long-range routes while maintaining high comfort standards.
Comfort: The aircraft features the new Airspace cabin with larger overhead bins, LED lighting, and a total of 182 seats configured in two classes (Business and Economy).
Fleet Status: Iberia currently operates five A321XLRs. It expects to add one more before the end of 2025, completing its total order of eight units with the final two arriving in 2026.
