CURRENT IAG INFORMATION ON THE ACQUISITION OF NIKI
On December 29, 2017, the International Airlines Group (IAG) announced plans to acquire, through a subsidiary of Vueling, the business of the Austrian airline NIKI, formerly part of the Air Berlin Group, for a purchase price of €20 million and NIKI debt for an amount of up to €16.5 million.
Following the decision on the opening of the NIKI insolvency proceedings in Austria (on Friday), IAG and Vueling held talks with the Austrian and German insolvency administration and closely follow the further developments.
They are convinced that there is a desire among all participants to carry out this process quickly.
IAG remains interested in acquiring the NIKI business and is confident that the new process will be completed soon. The Group remains confident that Vueling will implement the acquisition, securing the jobs of up to 740 NIKI employees in Austria and Germany and providing customers in Austria, Germany and Switzerland with a more attractive range of flights.
