British Airways has announced a major expansion of its long-haul network for winter 2026, with capacity set to grow by around nine percent.
The airline will introduce two new destinations: Melbourne, launching from 9 January 2027 via Kuala Lumpur, and Colombo, starting on 23 October 2026 from London Gatwick with three weekly flights.
In addition, frequencies will increase on several leisure routes, including Cape Town, Tokyo (Haneda), Bridgetown, Kingston and San José, as well as multiple destinations in the United States.
The expansion comes amid continued strong demand for leisure travel, with the Caribbean and Indian Ocean seeing notable growth in searches.
Separately, British Airways has temporarily boosted capacity to Bangkok and Singapore, adding extra flights in response to shifting demand linked to the ongoing Middle East situation, while some routes in the region remain suspended.
The airline says it will continue to adjust its network based on demand trends.
