On 31 May, a British Airways Boeing 747 (G-CIVD) from London Heathrow to Washington Dulles D.C. took off uneventfully around 17:11 (UTC). One hour into flight BA293, however, a male flight attendant severely bumped his head on a overhead locker, knocking himself out in the process.
The crew could not help but dump fuel, and return to London for a safe landing at 20:00. Shortly after the landing, the poor steward was taken to hospital.
A British Airways spokesman said to British tabloid The Sun: “The safety and welfare of everyone on board our flights is always our priority, and thankfully injuries in flight are extremely rare.?
“The crew member was taken to hospital upon landing.”
