British Airways is set to significantly expand its Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport (CVG) service next summer, increasing its nonstop Cincinnati–London Heathrow (LHR) route from five to six flights per week and upgrading to a larger aircraft to meet rising demand.
Starting 29 March 2026, BA will operate the route every day except Thursday through October, marking a major ramp-up since the service launched in 2023—the only nonstop connection to the UK from Ohio, Kentucky, or Indiana.
Alongside the frequency increase, British Airways will shift from the Boeing 787-8 to the Boeing 777-200, boosting overall capacity by 55–60% year-on-year. The aircraft will feature 48 Club World suites, 40 World Traveller Plus seats, and 184 economy seats, while offering a substantial increase in cargo capacity for the region’s shippers.
BA leaders say the expansion reflects strong and growing transatlantic demand from the Cincinnati region. “Since launching our nonstop service… we’ve been delighted by the strong demand from customers across the region,” said Neil Chernoff, BA’s Chief Planning and Strategy Officer. “Operating six times per week on larger aircraft offers greater flexibility and convenience… and reflects our ongoing commitment to our biggest international market.”
Local officials hailed the move as a milestone for the airport and the regional economy, citing heightened international travel needs from businesses including Procter & Gamble, GE Aerospace and CTI, as well as growing interest from leisure travellers. Third-party research indicates the expansion will deliver millions of dollars in annual economic benefits.
Airport and economic development leaders described the upgrade as validation of Cincinnati’s growing global connectivity and a strong foundation for further international expansion at CVG.
