British Airways has become the first UK airline to introduce Starlink-powered in-flight Wi-Fi, successfully operating its inaugural connected flight on a Boeing 787-8 from the UK to Houston.
The new service, powered by Starlink, delivers fast and reliable internet—offering speeds of over 500 Mbps—allowing passengers in all cabins to stream, work, browse, and stay connected from take-off to landing at no cost.
This launch marks a major milestone in the airline’s broader £7 billion transformation programme aimed at improving the customer experience. Over the next two years, British Airways plans to equip its entire fleet of more than 300 aircraft with Starlink, making high-speed Wi-Fi universally available onboard.
Beyond passenger benefits, the technology will also enhance real-time communication between flight crews and ground teams, supporting more efficient operations.
CEO Sean Doyle described the rollout as a “landmark moment,” highlighting the airline’s focus on modernisation and meeting growing demand for seamless connectivity while travelling.
