An Aer Lingus UK Airbus A330-300 registered G-EILA (Flight EG935) travelling from Manchester to Orlando on 5 May with 304 people on board made an emergency landing at Shannon Airport after the crew reported a problem with one of the aircraft’s two engines. The crew issued a “Pan-pan” call—signalling urgency but not immediate danger—while the flight was approximately 900 km west of Shannon.
Although both engines functioned during most of the flight, the crew indicated they would land on one engine and requested clearance for an overweight landing, requiring a post-landing inspection of the undercarriage and brakes. The aircraft landed safely at 14:46 and was met by emergency services, who cleared it to taxi to the terminal.
Passengers deplaned and were eventually accommodated in local hotels while the aircraft was repaired. The same plane continued to Orlando the next morning, 6 May, as flight EG1035.
