Icelandair has inaugurated its first-ever scheduled service from Miami International Airport (MIA) to Reykjavik, marking a new milestone in the airline’s expanding transatlantic network. The first flight departed on October 26, with three weekly services scheduled on Sundays, Wednesdays, and Fridays through May 3, 2026.
The route is operated by Airbus A321LR aircraft, offering a flight time of under eight hours. With this launch, Miami becomes Icelandair’s 19th North American gateway, and MIA is now the only Florida airport with nonstop service to all five sovereign Scandinavian countries. Reykjavik also becomes MIA’s 18th European destination.
Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava welcomed the new route, highlighting the increased global connectivity it brings to South Florida. Icelandair CEO Bogi Nils Bogason emphasized that the A321LR enables the airline to reach new destinations like Miami, while providing convenient one-stop connections from Florida to 38 European destinations via Iceland.
The new Miami route underscores Icelandair’s continued growth strategy, leveraging Iceland’s strategic location between Europe and North America to serve over 60 destinations worldwide.
