Icelandair has inaugurated direct flights between Reykjavik and Venice, expanding its European network with a new connection to one of Italy’s most popular tourist destinations.
The new route to Venice Marco Polo Airport began on 22 May 2026 and will operate three times weekly until 18 October 2026, with flights scheduled on Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays using a Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft.
Venice becomes Icelandair’s fourth destination in Italy, joining Rome, Milan and Verona. The airline said demand has already been strong from both inbound and outbound passengers since the route was announced.
Icelandair Chief Commercial Officer Tomas Ingason said the new service strengthens the airline’s strategy of connecting Europe and North America through its Keflavík International Airport hub. He also noted that the launch coincides with Icelandair’s support for the Icelandic Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
SAVE Group Aviation Development Director Camillo Bozzolo highlighted Iceland’s appeal to Italian travellers and the onward connection opportunities to North America via Reykjavik.
The airline also promoted its stopover programme, which allows passengers to stay in Iceland for up to seven days at no additional airfare before continuing to their final destination.
