Icelandair has announced the addition of Edinburgh and Malaga to its winter 2025–2026 schedule, joining previously revealed new routes to Istanbul and Miami. The airline will fly to Edinburgh 3–4 times weekly from September 12, 2025 to April 12, 2026, and to Malaga 1–2 times weekly from September 6, 2025 to May 30, 2026.
The winter expansion also includes extended service to Nashville (now running into January) and Hamburg (extended through October), as well as increased frequencies to Alicante, Barcelona, and Brussels.
CEO Bogi Nils Bogason highlighted the strategic goal to reduce seasonality and grow operations beyond the summer peak, made possible by the airline’s investment in newer, more efficient aircraft. He also noted the symbolic importance of returning to Scotland in the 80th anniversary year of Iceland’s first international flight—to Scotland.
