Icelandair has announced the addition of Faro, Portugal, to its route network, marking the airline’s first scheduled flights to the Algarve region, famous for its beaches, golf courses, and cultural attractions.
Flights between Reykjavík and Faro will launch on 26 March 2026, operating twice weekly (Mondays and Fridays) until 11 May, and then once weekly (Saturdays) from 16 May onwards. The new service builds on the success of Icelandair VITA’s vacation packages and will expand travel options, including dedicated golf trips to southern Portugal.
In addition to the new Faro route, Icelandair is also boosting frequencies to several popular Southern European destinations, including Tenerife, Las Palmas, Alicante, and Barcelona, as well as to Copenhagen and Paris.
“We are seeing strong demand for destinations in Southern Europe and want to ensure that Icelandic travelers and international guests have diverse and convenient connections,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, CEO of Icelandair. “Faro is an exciting addition that many Icelanders already know well, and with increased service to other sunny destinations, we’re further strengthening our network and leisure offering.”
