The Portuguese airline Hi Fly has launched the first passenger flight without single-use plastics.

Cutlery, goblets and other various plastics items were banned during a Hi Fly test flight between Lisbon and Natal in Brazil last week. Single-use plastic objects have been replaced by e.g. bamboo cutlery, compostable packaging and other materials presented as environmentally friendly.

Hi Fly will organise three more flights without single-use plastics in the coming days, allowing it to save 350 kg of plastic materials over the duration of the test.
