Helvetic Airways is deepening its investment in Embraer’s next-generation regional jets, placing a new firm order for three E195-E2 aircraft with purchase rights for five more, the companies announced Tuesday at the Dubai Airshow.
The deal could expand the Swiss carrier’s E2 fleet from 12 to as many as 20 aircraft, strengthening its role as a major European operator of Embraer’s latest-generation E-Jet family. The first of the newly ordered aircraft is set to arrive at the end of 2026.
Configured with 134 seats in a single-class layout and fitted with modern Recaro seating, the E195-E2s promise greater comfort, improved fuel efficiency and reduced noise — features Helvetic says will support both its fleet modernisation strategy and sustainability goals.
“The E195-E2 is the ideal aircraft for our network,” said Helvetic Airways CEO Tobias Pogorevc. “It offers exceptional fuel efficiency, low noise emissions, and a high-quality passenger experience. This order supports our modern fleet strategy while maintaining operational flexibility across Europe.”
Arjan Meijer, president and CEO of Embraer Commercial Aviation, said Helvetic’s renewed commitment underscores the aircraft’s strong economic and environmental performance. “Their decision to expand the E195-E2 fleet is a powerful endorsement of the E2’s capabilities,” he said.
Helvetic first ordered the E2 in 2018 and currently operates eight E190-E2s and four E195-E2s, alongside older-generation E190s and E195s. The airline deploys the jets across scheduled, charter and wet-lease operations, and was the first to fly both the E190-E2 and E195-E2 into London City Airport on behalf of Swiss International Air Lines — a milestone that highlighted the aircraft’s steep-approach certification and quiet performance.
With its latest order, Helvetic Airways continues to position itself at the forefront of sustainable regional aviation, banking on the E2’s advanced technology and strong passenger appeal to support future growth.
