Hawaiian Airlines becomes new operator of the Airbus A321neo

• Launching expansion of daily U.S. West Coast routes with world’s most fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft

Hawaiian Airlines has taken delivery of its first Airbus A321neo, the highly fuel-efficient single-aisle aircraft the Honolulu-based carrier will use to expand its service on routes to U.S. West Coast markets beginning in early 2018.

Hawaiian will launch daily A321neo non-stop service between Maui and Portland in January. This will be followed by A321neo service on the Kaua’i-Oakland and Kona-Los Angeles routes as Hawaiian receives additional aircraft. Airbus will deliver a second A321neo to Hawaiian later in 2017 with 14 aircraft to be delivered in 2018 and beyond.

Hawaiian’s A321neo seats comfortably 189 passengers in a three-class configuration, including 16 First Class, 45 Premium Economy, and 128 Economy seats. The aircraft is equipped with the airline’s signature “Hawaii Inspired” interior cabin, which draws on the islands’ natural beauty. LED cabin lighting evokes Hawaii’s spectacular sunrises and sunsets and reflects the islands’ idyllic environment in textiles, textures, and colour. Passengers will also enjoy wireless streaming entertainment and benefit from additional overhead stowage volume thanks to new pivoting bins.

Powered by Pratt & Whitney PurePower engines and ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operations) certified for lengthy overwater flights, the A321neo will allow Hawaiian to fly more direct and fuel-efficient routes.

The A321 is the largest member of the A320 Family, seating up to 240 passengers, depending on cabin configuration. Incorporating the latest engines, aerodynamic advances, and cabin innovations, the A321neo offers a reduction in fuel consumption of at least 15 percent per seat from day one and 20 percent by 2020 as well as a 50 percent noise reduction.
