GoAir Airbus A320 returns to Delhi as no approach and navigation charts for Bangkok airport on board

Share

On 16 August, a GoAir Airbus A320 (VT-WJA) operated flight G837 between Delhi, India and Bangkok, Thailand. 45 minutes into the flight, the aircraft headed back to Delhi. Reason? Before the flight, the pilots forgot to check that the required approach and navigation charts for Bangkok airport were on board.

At the last moment, the Indian airlines changed the aircraft due to some technical issue and the replacement aircraft was not carrying required approach and navigation charts for Bangkok. According to the airline, VT-WJA is normally dedicated to operating within India on domestic routes.

Passenger safety is paramount at GoAir. The return of Delhi Bangkok GoAir flight G837 to base station Delhi was the result of the crew realizing that the required approach and navigation charts for Bangkok had not been put on to the aircraft before departure. All aircraft are equipped with these charts for navigational purposes at airports,” a spokesperson for GoAir said to The Hindustan Times.

GoAir regrets the inconvenience caused to its passengers. GoAir is committed to provide secure and efficient transportation at all times with attention to essential details,” the spokesperson further added.

Why the pilots didn’t check the approach and navigation charts for Bangkok before the flight is not known.
