Extending the diversity of its range of carriers, Budapest Airport announces the arrival of new airline partner, Myway Airlines, to its roll call. Linking the Hungarian gateway to its base at Tbilisi, the Georgian start-up carrier is due to commence a three-times weekly service from 28 October. Kick-starting the winter season for Budapest, the 2,123-kilometre sector will be operated by the carrier’s 170-seat Boeing 737-800s.
While facing no direct competition on the link to the Georgian capital, Myway Airlines will join Wizz Air’s established link to Kutaisi in the west of the country. Further enhancing capacity, the Georgian carrier’s new link means Budapest will be offering close to 20,000 scheduled seats to Georgia during W18/19.
Boosting Hungary’s connections to the Caucasus region, the new flight provides a significant link to the cultural intersection of Europe and Asia, presenting an important new route for various energy and trade developments.
Now boasting 46 carriers, and with 10 new routes still to commence in 2018, Budapest continues to experience solid growth. Recording an overall average 14% passenger traffic growth so far this year, the arrival of Myway Airlines will further enhance the airport’s developments.
