Dubai-based flydubai has inaugurated flights to Iasi, making it the first UAE carrier to operate direct services between Dubai and the city. The twice-weekly route, launched on 19 September 2025, expands the airline’s Romanian network to two destinations alongside Bucharest, where flydubai will soon increase service to three daily flights.
The inaugural flight was welcomed at Iasi International Airport with a traditional water cannon salute and a reception attended by officials and media. Local airport director Romeo Vatra hailed the launch as a milestone that strengthens Ia?i’s role as an international gateway for Romania’s Moldova region.
flydubai has experienced steady growth in Romania since 2012, with passenger numbers to Bucharest increasing by 16% annually. Executives stated that the new Iasi service, combined with expanded Bucharest flights, will offer greater convenience for business and leisure travellers, while opening an underserved market to new opportunities.
The route will operate on Tuesdays and Fridays from Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2, with Emirates codesharing to offer wider global connectivity.
