Strange news coming from Saudia Arabia, where “Everyday Low Fares airline” flyadeal announced to launch world’s first cargo passenger class. From 1 January 2019, the airline will start with this new travel class. And they are dead serious.

The airline is warning for colder temperatures in the hold: “With the dimmer lights and cooler temperatures down below, be sure to pack a sweater with you or bring a blanket on board.” On the web site it’s clearly announced that you will have to do your potty break in the terminal as there are are no restrooms in the cargo hold. “Since all our flights are to local destinations, you won’t need a restroom break anyway,” the airline assures.

Some height and weight restrictions apply: passengers taller than 180 cm and/or heavier than 90 kilograms are not allowed to travel with the rest of the cargo. Luckily, the airline has taken passenger safety into consideration and will properly secure all luggage in the cargo compartment: proper safety and protection equipment is made available to all passengers.

A new way to fly for less

We are always looking for new and innovative ways to lower airfares. At one of our brainstorming sessions we came up with a radical idea that started with a simple fact: on average 46% of the cargo space on our aircraft is not being used. What if we utilised this space to install more seats?

Research, research, and more …

We spent time testing this idea through rigorous research. Our innovation team led by flyadeal Chief Engineer came up with a design of MODULAR AIRCRAFT SEATING that can be arranged according to the amount of cargo space available. It means the seats are completely customisable to each and every flight where Cargo Passengers are booked. With the dimmer lights and cooler temperatures down below, be sure to pack a sweater with you or bring a blanket on board.

We made it comfortable

If you’re willing to give up window seats, reading lights and the carpet, you deserve to save on your fare. LOW FARES AND PASSENGER COMFORT ARE PRIORITIES FOR US and our newest Cargo Passenger Class is no exception. There are are no restrooms in the cargo hold but rest assured that boarding agents will remind all Cargo Passenger Class flyers to use the restroom prior to boarding the flight. Since all our flights are to local destinations, you won’t need a restroom break anyway.

But you need to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Height and weight restrictions are imposed to make sure that everyone flying is able to sit comfortably yet securely in our specially designed modular seats. A WEIGHT LIMITATION OF 90 KGS IS STRICTLY ENFORCEDAdditionally, overhead clearance and headroom is taken into consideration. For your safety and comfort, we are UNABLE TO ACCEPT PASSENGERS WHO ARE TALLER THAN 180 CM. Please note your height and weight measurements will be taken at time of check-in. No refunds or upgrades will be offered those exceeding the weight or height limits.

Luggage is stowed safely

Don’t worry, all baggage is fastened securely to the foremost section of the cargo hold. While items can tend to shift during takeoff and landing, PASSENGER SAFETY IS ALWAYS TAKEN INTO CONSIDERATION and proper safety and protection equipment is made available to all passengers.

Some items are prohibited

It is strictly prohibited to bring aerosols or flammable items into the cargo hold. Cargo Passenger Class flyers are subject to having their checked items treated as carry-on items, meaning absolutely no weapons, batteries, sharp objects, lighters or matches will be permitted on board.
