Finnair will reintroduce scheduled flights to the Finnish cities of Tampere and Turku from October 2026, reconnecting both regions directly to its international network through its Helsinki hub.
The airline will operate daily overnight flights between Helsinki and each city, allowing passengers to connect conveniently to Finnair’s morning departures across Europe and to long-haul destinations in Asia, North America, and Australia. Additional daytime inbound services to Helsinki will provide access to the airline’s afternoon wave of connecting flights.
The routes will be served by ATR turboprop aircraft with around 70 seats. The new schedule includes:
Tampere
Turku
Finnair had replaced flights to Tampere and Turku with bus connections between 2022 and 2023 due to weak demand and changing travel patterns. While daytime bus services will continue, the late-night bus links will be withdrawn and replaced by the restored flights.
According to Finnair CEO Turkka Kuusisto, the decision reflects growing demand from both regions and follows ongoing discussions with local stakeholders seeking improved international connectivity.
The move strengthens Helsinki’s role as Finnair’s hub and restores direct air access from Finland’s second- and third-largest urban regions to nearly 110 destinations across the airline’s global network.
