Finnair carried over 1 million passengers in May 2025 despite strike disruptions

Share

In May 2025, Finnair transported 1,017,200 passengers, a 3.2% year-on-year increase, driven by strong growth in North Atlantic and Asian routes, and slight gains in European traffic. Domestic numbers remained stable, while Middle Eastern traffic declined.

  • Capacity (ASK) rose 6.6%, notably on U.S. and Japanese routes.
  • Traffic (RPK) grew 8.3%, with gains in most regions.
  • Passenger load factor (PLF) improved by 1.1 points to 72.4%, despite disruptions from industrial action.
  • Punctuality improved, with 80.6% of flights on time, up from 77.2% in May 2024.
  • Cargo volume fell by 4.2%, mainly due to weaker demand in the Middle East and Europe.

Finnair also noted a capacity dip in Middle Eastern traffic following the end of its Qatar Airways cooperation on selected routes in January 2025.
