Two decades of connecting the UAE and Belgium with seamless global access

Etihad Airways is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its Abu Dhabi–Brussels service, marking two decades of strong air links between the UAE and Belgium. Since the inaugural flight in October 2005, the airline has carried over 2.6 million passengers between the two capitals, fostering tourism, business, and cultural exchange.

“Brussels has been an important part of Etihad’s European network for two decades,” said Mohamed Boutiche, General Manager Western Europe. “We’ve built strong connections between the UAE and Belgium, and we’re seeing growing demand for Abu Dhabi and onward destinations across Asia.”

The Brussels route continues to serve as a vital gateway for Belgian travellers connecting via Abu Dhabi to popular destinations such as Kuala Lumpur, Tokyo, Singapore, Colombo, and Jakarta.

Etihad is currently in one of the most dynamic expansion phases in its history, having added over 30 new destinations in the past year, including Chiang Mai, Hanoi, Hong Kong, Krabi, Medan, and Taipei.

Beyond connectivity, Abu Dhabi has grown into a global destination in its own right, offering cultural attractions like Louvre Abu Dhabi, Qasr Al Watan, and the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The recently opened TeamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi and the upcoming Zayed National Museum further enhance the city’s appeal.

Travellers can also take advantage of Etihad’s Stopover Programme, which includes complimentary hotel stays of up to two nights and the Abu Dhabi Pass, offering free public transport, tourist SIM cards, and discounts at over 200 attractions.

Flight schedule (daily)

  • EY57: Abu Dhabi 02:15 – Brussels 06:35
  • EY58: Brussels 09:55 – Abu Dhabi 19:25

Etihad remains committed to expanding its network and delivering world-class service as it continues to connect Europe and the Middle East with Asia, Africa, and Australia.
