Etihad Airways launches Luxembourg–Abu Dhabi route, opening new global connections

Share

Etihad Airways will begin direct flights between Luxembourg and Abu Dhabi on 21 October 2026, creating a new air link between the Grand Duchy and the Middle East while providing convenient onward connections to Asia, Australia and North America.

The new service will operate four times per week—Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Flights will depart from Luxembourg Airport at 09:35 and arrive at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport at 19:05 local time. Return flights will leave Abu Dhabi at 02:45 and reach Luxembourg at 06:55.

To promote the launch, Etihad staged a publicity event in Luxembourg City, transforming part of Place Hamilius into an airline-themed lounge where cabin crew welcomed visitors with traditional Arabic coffee and dates.

According to Etihad, the route is aimed at both business and leisure travellers. Beyond serving demand between Luxembourg and the UAE, the airline expects passengers to use Abu Dhabi as a gateway to its broader network, which now spans 110 destinations worldwide. The route will also attract visitors travelling from the Gulf region and beyond to Luxembourg and neighbouring countries.

The flights will be operated by the Airbus A321LR, one of the newest aircraft types in Etihad’s fleet. The aircraft features three travel classes, lie-flat seats in premium cabins, direct aisle access for Business Class passengers, 4K entertainment screens and onboard high-speed Wi-Fi.

The Luxembourg launch forms part of Etihad’s continued expansion strategy. The airline carried 22.4 million passengers last year, a 21% increase year-on-year, achieved an average load factor of 88%, and reported a net profit of approximately $698 million.
