Etihad Airways is set to recruit an additional 1,500 employees by the end of 2025, following the hiring of 1,685 staff earlier this year. This recruitment drive is part of the airline’s strategic expansion, aiming to double its workforce by 2030 to support a growing fleet and network. Currently employing around 12,000 people, Etihad has added over 4,000 new staff members in the past three years, reflecting its commitment to scaling operations in response to increased demand.
The airline’s growth strategy includes the addition of 15 new aircraft to its fleet in 2025, necessitating the hiring of pilots, cabin crew, and engineers. Etihad’s refreshed 2030 strategy focuses on expanding its network and investing in various fleet types to meet market demands. In 2024 alone, the airline announced 16 new destinations, bringing its total fleet to 101 aircraft. This expansion aligns with Etihad’s goal to double its passenger numbers by 2030.
A significant aspect of Etihad’s recruitment plan is its commitment to Emiratisation. The airline aims to hire approximately 1,000 UAE nationals over the next five years, translating to 250–300 Emirati hires annually. These positions will include around 70 pilots and 20 participants in airport manager programs each year. Etihad’s leadership emphasizes the importance of developing local talent to ensure the airline’s growth is rooted in national expertise.
