This Saturday, Ethiopia officially launched the construction of a new international airport in Bishoftu, about forty kilometres from the capital, Addis Ababa.
The infrastructure is expected to cost approximately 12.7 billion dollars and be capable of accommodating 60 million passengers annually at the end of the first phase of works and, ultimately, 110 million passengers each year.
This future airport hub, notably financed by Ethiopian Airlines, the Ethiopian national airline, will replace the current Bole Airport for international connections, located right in the heart of the capital and with a capacity of about 25 million passengers annually.
