Ethiopian Airlines has inaugurated a new passenger service connecting Addis Ababa with Porto, Portugal, further expanding its global network and reinforcing ties between Africa and Europe. The route, launched with a ceremony at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport, will operate four times weekly using Boeing 787 Dreamliners, with a stopover in Madrid.
CEO Mesfin Tasew highlighted the route as a “bridge between Africa and Europe,” aligning with the airline’s commitment to global connectivity and service excellence.
Porto, Portugal’s second-largest city and a UNESCO World Heritage site, adds a culturally and economically significant destination to the airline’s offerings.
This launch bolsters Ethiopian’s position as Africa’s leading carrier, recently honoured for the eighth consecutive year as Skytrax’s ‘Best Airline in Africa.’ The airline currently serves over 160 destinations worldwide and continues its strategic expansion under its Vision 2035 plan.
