Ethiopian Airlines has launched a new daily passenger service between Addis Ababa and Abu Dhabi, further strengthening its footprint in the Gulf region. This milestone expands the airline’s UAE operations to four airports across three cities, including Dubai (DXB and DWC), Sharjah, and now Abu Dhabi’s Zayed International Airport.
The launch is part of a strategic partnership with Etihad Airways, aimed at boosting trade, tourism, and connectivity between Africa and the Middle East. CEO Mesfin Tasew emphasised that the route exemplifies Ethiopian’s mission to connect Africa to the world through collaboration and service excellence.
The airline now operates over 100 weekly passenger flights to 13 Gulf destinations, including its recently launched Sharjah service in June 2025. The Abu Dhabi route is a key step in the broader joint venture with Etihad, promoting route expansion and global network synergy.
