Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737-800 overshoots runway upon landing at Entebbe Airport

On 2 January, an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737-800 (ET-ATV) overshot the runway upon landing at Entebbe Airport. The aircraft was operating flight ET388 from Addis Ababa. The Ugandan civil aviation authorities issued a press release confirming the incident: “all 139 passengers and crew safely disembarked the aircraft.

The landing mishap seriously affected inbound international flights early in the day, Ethiopian Airlines and other stakeholders immediately started working on the aircraft’s removal from the runway end. Flight operations safely resumed shortly after.

There is no damage to the aircraft and it is being towed to the ramp,” Ethiopian Airlines wrote, “an alternative flight is being arranged to complete the return flight and rebook the passengers, who were booked to travel from Entebbe to Addis Ababa.”

The airline apologizes to all of their esteemed customers who have been affected by the incident. The cause of the incident is under investigation,” Ethiopian said.
