The Tunisian Ministry of Transport has announced the immediate suspension of all Emirates Airlines flights to and from the North African country, the decision came two days after Tunisian female passengers were denied boarding for their flight to Dubai.
In the statement on Facebook the transport ministry said that it has decided to suspend all Emirates Airlines flights to and from Tunisia until the company can find a suitable solution to operate its flights in accordance with international laws and treaties. Salem Zeabi, the UAE ambassador in Tunisia was called to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Friday to give extra information on the measure of banning Tunisian women from flying to Dubai. The ambassador said that the measure was temporary and for “security reasons”.
Emirates responded to the news with a small message on Twitter: “Emirates will stop services between Tunis and Dubai, as instructed by the Tunisian authorities, with effect from 25 December 2017“.
