The flight will allow Emirates to link Dubai and the North American country with a single stop

The direct flight from Barcelona to Mexico City has already a green light. The airline will connect El Prat with Mexico City International Airport in a route whose design will link the Arab emirate with the North American country via Barcelona.

The announcement was made in Dubai by the Secretary of State for Infrastructure, Transport and Housing, Julio Gómez-Pomar, after meeting with the Vice President of Emirates, Salem Obaidalla. The ministry defends that it is a firm commitment to connectivity at Barcelona airport.

According to the ministry, Emirates has expressed its willingness to start the operation as soon as possible, possibly before the end of the year. From that moment, Barcelona and Mexico City will be linked with daily flight throughout the year. More than 95,000 seats will be offered in each direction and it is estimated that the new link could have more than 150,000 passengers per year.

Additionally, the company plans to strengthen its connection between Barcelona and Dubai with a third daily connection. Emirates transported 550,000 passengers last year on its route to Dubai.
