Emirates Skywards members can now redeem miles for rail travel across Europe

Share

Emirates has expanded its Skywards loyalty programme by launching Skywards Rail, enabling members to redeem their miles for train journeys to more than 12,000 destinations across Europe.

The new platform gives members access to rail services operated by more than 40 train operators in 12 European countries, allowing them to book domestic, international and high-speed rail tickets using Skywards Miles. Tickets can be purchased entirely with miles or through a Cash + Miles combination, while members can also redeem miles for family and friends. E-tickets are delivered digitally after booking.

The initiative aims to make journeys more seamless by allowing travellers to combine Emirates or flydubai flights with onward rail connections across Europe. The dedicated booking platform is available online and on mobile devices in five languages.

Among the participating rail operators are Eurostar, Deutsche Bahn, SNCF, Trenitalia, TGV, Renfe, ÖBB, as well as several UK operators including Heathrow Express, Gatwick Express, Thameslink, Great Western Railway and ScotRail.

Examples of redemption rates include:

  • Berlin – Frankfurt from 4,100 Skywards Miles;
  • Heathrow Express from 4,700 miles;
  • Barcelona – Madrid from 5,400 miles;
  • Rome – Milan from 8,100 miles; and
  • London – Paris via Eurostar from 9,400 miles.

Emirates says the launch reflects the continued evolution of Skywards from a traditional frequent-flyer programme into a broader lifestyle loyalty platform, giving members greater flexibility to use their miles beyond air travel and create integrated journeys across Europe.

The programme, which celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, now has more than 39 million members across 190 countries, with approximately 78,000 new members joining every week.
