Emirates Orders 65 More Boeing 777X Airplanes

Emirates has placed a major new order for 65 Boeing 777-9 aircraft, strengthening its position as the world’s largest 777X customer. Announced at the Dubai Airshow, the purchase brings the airline’s total 777X commitment to 270 aircraft, including previous orders for both the 777-9 and 777-8.

Chairman and CEO HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum said the additional jets support Emirates’ long-term growth strategy and align with Dubai’s broader expansion plans. The airline, already the largest operator of Boeing 777s worldwide, described the deal as a continuation of its 40-year partnership with Boeing.

The 777-9, set to become the world’s largest twin-engine passenger aircraft, promises 20% lower fuel burn and emissions along with a wider cabin, more natural light, and improved humidity for passengers.

Boeing noted that the order reflects strong widebody demand in the Middle East, where nearly 3,000 new widebody aircraft are forecast over the next two decades.
