Emirates, the world’s largest international airline, has announced a new order for eight additional Airbus A350-900 aircraft, powered by Rolls-Royce Trent XWB-84 engines, during the Dubai Airshow 2025.

Valued at US$3.4 billion at list prices, this top-up order increases Emirates’ total A350-900 commitment to 73 aircraft once all deliveries are completed. The airline has so far taken delivery of 13 A350s. The newly ordered aircraft are scheduled to join the fleet in 2031.

HH Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman and Chief Executive, Emirates Airline and Group, said: “The Emirates A350’s entry into service last November has brought us welcome extra capacity and allowed more customers to experience our newest cabin products, including Premium Economy. We are pleased to expand our A350 fleet and will continue working closely with Airbus to bring the remaining aircraft — including today’s additional units — into service.

“With this order, along with the extra Boeing 777-9s announced earlier this week, Emirates now has 375 next-generation widebody jets on order. This represents a major investment in our future, in delivering an even better flying experience for our customers, and in supporting aviation’s broader role in job creation and economic growth.”

Benoît de Saint-Exupéry, Airbus EVP Sales, Commercial Aircraft, said: “We are delighted that Emirates is reaffirming its confidence in the A350, which continues to raise the bar for long-haul travel. We look forward to supporting Emirates as it grows with one of the most advanced widebody aircraft available.”

Omar Ali Adib, Senior Vice President, Customer – Middle East, Africa and Central Asia at Rolls-Royce, added: “Today’s announcement underscores the strong confidence in the Trent XWB-84, which has set the standard for large aero-engines for a decade with its exceptional durability and fuel efficiency. We thank Emirates for its ongoing trust and are proud to extend our long-standing partnership.”

Emirates’ A350 programme supports tens of thousands of highly skilled manufacturing jobs across Europe, benefiting supply chains not only in France, Germany, the UK and Spain, but also in numerous partner countries across the region.
