Emirates launched its first service to Helsinki on 1 October, adding Finland to its network with a daily Airbus A350 connection from Dubai.
The inaugural flight, EK167, departed Dubai at 07:30 with a near-full passenger and cargo load, according to the airline. UAE and Finnish officials, business representatives and media joined the flight.
Emirates says the route provides the only year-round direct connection between the UAE and Finland. Through Dubai, passengers can connect with nearly 140 destinations, including cities across Asia, Africa, the Middle East and Australasia.
The service operates with a 298-seat Airbus A350 offering Business, Premium Economy and Economy cabins. Onboard catering includes Finnish-inspired dishes.
Emirates SkyCargo will also offer up to 16 tonnes of bellyhold cargo capacity on each flight. The airline expects the connection to support trade in pharmaceuticals, electronics, machinery, timber and perishables, alongside tourism and business travel.
