Emirates has unveiled the U-Dream Headrest, describing it as the world’s first multi-way adjustable headrest designed specifically to improve comfort for Economy Class passengers. The new feature is being rolled out across the airline’s fleet, starting with Airbus A350s and later extending to most Airbus A380s, Boeing 777s and all future Boeing 777X aircraft.
Developed with Safran Seats, the leather headrest features adjustable side wings and vertical and tilt movement to provide enhanced neck and head support, helping passengers sleep more comfortably without the need for a travel pillow. Emirates said the design has been certified by the European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA).
The U-Dream headrest is already installed on three Emirates A350s, with the entire A350 fleet expected to be equipped by the end of 2026. Installation on retrofitted A380s and Boeing 777s will begin in 2027, while all 270 Boeing 777Xs on order will be delivered with the system already installed.
Emirates President Sir Tim Clark said the innovation significantly improves comfort for long-haul Economy Class passengers and reflects the airline’s continued investment in the customer experience.
Alongside the announcement, Emirates highlighted other features of its Economy Class offering, including its ice inflight entertainment system with more than 6,500 channels, fleet-wide introduction of Starlink high-speed internet, complimentary multi-course meals, family-friendly amenities and its global network served by Airbus A350s, A380s and Boeing 777s.
