EGYPTAIR has taken delivery of its first Airbus A350-900, marking a major milestone in the airline’s long-haul fleet modernisation and making it the launch operator of the A350 in North Africa. The aircraft was handed over in Toulouse on 9 February 2026 and is the first of 16 A350-900s on order.
The new-generation widebody will play a central role in EGYPTAIR’s network expansion from its Cairo hub, enabling the launch of new non-stop long-haul routes, including services to the US West Coast and North Asia. With its extended range and improved efficiency, the A350 significantly enhances the airline’s ability to compete on ultra-long-haul markets.
EGYPTAIR’s A350-900 features a two-class configuration, offering 30 Business Class suites with direct aisle access and 310 Economy Class seats. The aircraft is equipped with Airbus’ latest-generation Airspace cabin, designed to elevate the long-haul experience through improved ergonomics, quieter cabins, enhanced lighting and a greater sense of space—benefiting both passengers and crew.
The Airbus A350 is widely regarded as the most modern widebody aircraft in service today, capable of flying up to 9,700 nautical miles (18,000 kilometres) non-stop. Its advanced aerodynamics, extensive use of lightweight materials and latest-generation Rolls-Royce engines deliver a 25% reduction in fuel burn, operating costs and CO? emissions compared with previous-generation competitor aircraft.
In line with Airbus’ sustainability roadmap, the A350 is already certified to operate with up to 50% Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF), with Airbus targeting 100% SAF capability by 2030.
With this delivery, EGYPTAIR continues to deepen its partnership with Airbus. The airline currently operates an all-Airbus narrowbody and widebody fleet comprising eight A320neos, seven A321neos and 11 A330 Family aircraft, including five A330-200P2F freighters.
The A350 programme continues to see strong market momentum. As of the end of January 2026, the A350 Family had secured more than 1,500 orders from 67 customers worldwide, underlining its status as a cornerstone of long-haul fleet renewal strategies across the globe.
For EGYPTAIR, the arrival of the A350-900 signals a decisive step toward a more efficient, sustainable and globally competitive long-haul operation—positioning the airline for its next phase of international growth.
