easyJet takes delivery of 100th Airbus NEO as fleet modernisation accelerates

Share

easyJet has reached a major fleet milestone with the delivery of its 100th Airbus A320neo Family aircraft, reinforcing its strategy to improve efficiency, reduce emissions and enhance the passenger experience.

The aircraft joins a fleet of 359 Airbus aircraft, with NEO models now accounting for more than a quarter of the total fleet. The A320neo Family offers up to 20% lower fuel consumption and CO? emissions per seat, as well as a 50% reduction in noise compared with previous-generation aircraft.

The milestone aircraft is the first of easyJet’s future deliveries to feature Airbus’ latest Airspace cabin, which includes upgraded lighting, redesigned interiors, improved accessibility features such as braille seat-row indicators, touchless lavatory features and enhanced crew facilities. The airline also plans to retrofit 81 existing A320neo and A321neo aircraft with the new cabin standard.

Future deliveries will additionally incorporate new LED runway lighting technology designed to reduce aircraft weight, drag and emissions while improving reliability.

Fleet renewal remains central to easyJet’s decarbonisation plans, with older aircraft gradually being replaced by more efficient NEO-family jets. The airline aims to reduce carbon emissions intensity by 35% by 2035. It is complementing fleet renewal with a series of efficiency measures, including lighter seats, advanced wingtip sharklets, reduced auxiliary power unit use, lighter paint systems and improved flight and taxiing procedures.

The new aircraft are powered by CFM LEAP-1A engines and can currently operate with up to 50% sustainable aviation fuel, with a pathway towards 100% SAF capability by 2030.
