An easyJet flight from Tenerife South Airport to Liverpool was forced to return to its departure airport on Tuesday evening after a fight involving around 10 passengers broke out on board.
Flight U2 3352 (Airbus A320 registered G-EZTG) turned back approximately 30 minutes after take-off after the captain determined that the altercation posed a risk to the safety of the aircraft and those on board. The crew informed air traffic control of the situation and requested a police presence upon arrival.
Air traffic controllers prioritised the aircraft’s return to Tenerife South, where it landed safely. Police met the aircraft on arrival and intervened following the incident.
After the disruptive passengers had been dealt with, the flight resumed its journey to Liverpool, where it landed with a 2-hour delay.
In a statement on social media, Spain’s air traffic controllers expressed support for the flight crew and passengers, noting that such disruptive incidents are becoming increasingly common.
